About Lotto (Ireland)
Lotto is the flagship game of the Irish National Lottery, operated under licence by Premier Lotteries Ireland (PLI). Six numbers are drawn from 1 to 47, followed by a Bonus Number from the same drum, and the same numbers on your ticket can also be entered into the Lotto Plus 1 and Lotto Plus 2 draws that follow the main draw.
The results on this page are taken from the official published results at lottery.ie and checked after every draw. LuckyNumberz does not sell tickets and has no connection with PLI or the National Lottery; we only display the numbers and let you check your saved lines against them.
How to play
Pick six numbers from 1 to 47 on each line, or choose a Quick Pick and let the terminal select them at random. A line costs €2. Draws are held on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday evenings at 8:00 pm Irish time; the Monday draw was added in September 2026, so older archives on this page show only Wednesdays and Saturdays.
For a small extra charge per line you can add Lotto Plus, which enters your numbers into two further draws, Lotto Plus 1 and Lotto Plus 2, each with its own set of six numbers and bonus and its own fixed top prize. Tickets are sold by National Lottery retailers across Ireland and through the operator’s own website and app.
Odds
The odds of winning the Lotto (Ireland) jackpot are 1 in 10,737,573: 6 numbers from 1–47.
Prizes and jackpot
There are eight ways to win. Matching two numbers plus the Bonus Number is the lowest tier and pays a small fixed amount; three numbers, three plus the bonus, four, four plus the bonus and five numbers pay progressively more; five numbers plus the Bonus Number is the second prize; and all six numbers wins the jackpot. The Bonus Number only counts for you when you already have two, three, four or five of the main numbers.
The jackpot starts at a guaranteed €2 million and rolls over when it is not won. Since 2022 it is capped: once it reaches the cap it stops growing, and the money that would have gone into the jackpot is instead paid into the next prize tier with winners, so the lower tiers become unusually large until the jackpot is finally hit.
History
The Irish National Lottery launched Lotto in 1988 with six numbers from 36. The pool has grown several times since, most recently in September 2015 when it moved from 45 to 47 numbers. The largest jackpot in the game’s history was €19.06 million, won in January 2022 after a rollover run that lasted from June 2021 and led directly to the introduction of the jackpot cap.
Frequently asked questions
When is the Irish Lotto drawn?
Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 8:00 pm Irish time. Results, the Bonus Number and the Lotto Plus numbers are published by the operator shortly afterwards and appear on this page as soon as the official source releases them.
What are the odds of winning the Lotto jackpot?
Matching six numbers from 47 has odds of 1 in 10,737,573 for a single line.
What is the Bonus Number for?
It is a seventh ball drawn from the same drum. It does not count on its own, but it upgrades a line that already has two, three, four or five main numbers to a higher prize tier.
What are Lotto Plus 1 and Lotto Plus 2?
Two extra draws with separate numbers, played with the same six numbers from your main line for a small additional charge. They have fixed top prizes rather than a rolling jackpot.
Does LuckyNumberz sell Irish Lotto tickets?
No. Tickets are sold only by the National Lottery and its authorised retailers. We show the official results and let you check your numbers.
