About Lotto 6 aus 45
Lotto 6 aus 45 is Austria’s national lottery, run by Österreichische Lotterien, the state-licensed operator that also sells EuroMillions and the Joker add-on in Austria. Six numbers are drawn from a pool of 45 twice a week, on Wednesday and Sunday evenings, and the results are broadcast on national television straight after the draw.
This page shows the six winning numbers and the Zusatzzahl for every draw, the official prize breakdown by rank and the forecast jackpot for the next draw. LuckyNumberz does not sell tickets and has no connection with Österreichische Lotterien; the figures come from the operator’s published results.
How to play
Choose six numbers from 1 to 45 on one tip, or ask for a Quicktipp and let the terminal choose. A ticket can hold several tips and can be entered for more than one draw at a time. Tickets are sold in tobacconists and other retail outlets across Austria and through the operator’s online platform, win2day.
A seventh ball, the Zusatzzahl, is drawn from the same drum after the six main numbers. You do not pick it; it only comes into play when you have matched five or three main numbers, or none of them. The same ticket can also carry the Joker, a separate game played on the printed ticket number rather than on your chosen numbers.
Odds
The odds of winning the Lotto 6 aus 45 jackpot are 1 in 8,145,060: 6 numbers from 1–45.
Prizes and jackpot
There are eight prize ranks. The top rank is six correct numbers; the second is five numbers plus the Zusatzzahl. Below them come five, four plus the Zusatzzahl, four, three plus the Zusatzzahl and three numbers. The lowest rank pays a small fixed prize for matching only the Zusatzzahl with none of the main numbers.
Prizes are pari-mutuel: each rank receives a fixed share of the prize fund, so the amount depends on sales and on how many tickets share the rank. When nobody has six correct numbers the top rank rolls over into the next draw, and the operator labels the accumulated prize a Doppeljackpot, Dreifachjackpot and so on as the rollovers add up.
History
The first Lotto 6 aus 45 draw took place on 7 September 1986, and the game has kept the same six-from-45 matrix ever since. It started as a Sunday-only draw; a midweek draw was added later, giving the current Wednesday and Sunday schedule. Occasional extra draws are also held on Fridays.
Frequently asked questions
When is Lotto 6 aus 45 drawn?
Wednesday and Sunday at 18:47 Vienna time. The numbers are published by the operator shortly afterwards and appear on this page as soon as they are released.
What are the odds of winning the Lotto 6 aus 45 jackpot?
Matching all six numbers from 45 has odds of 1 in 8,145,060. This is one of the shortest jackpot odds among European national lotteries because the pool is small.
What is the Zusatzzahl?
A seventh ball drawn from the same machine after the six main numbers. It is not something you choose; it decides the second rank (five numbers plus the Zusatzzahl) and two lower ranks, and pays a small fixed prize on its own.
What happens when nobody wins the jackpot?
It rolls over to the next draw and keeps growing until a ticket matches all six numbers. Each rollover adds a step to the name the operator uses for the prize, such as Doppeljackpot or Dreifachjackpot.
