About Lotto (UK)

Lotto is the flagship draw of the UK National Lottery, run under licence — by Camelot from 1994 and by Allwyn since February 2024. It is drawn twice a week and, thanks to a fixed jackpot cap and the Lucky Dip prize, it has more winners per draw than any other UK game.

This page lists the official winning numbers, the bonus ball and the estimated jackpot for the next draw.

How to play

Pick six numbers from 1 to 59, or choose a Lucky Dip to have them generated at random. A line costs £2. Draws are on Wednesday and Saturday evenings; sales close at 7:30 pm on draw days.

A seventh ball, the Bonus Ball, is drawn from the same machine after the six main numbers. It only matters if you have matched five main numbers: five plus the bonus ball is the second prize.

Odds

The odds of winning the Lotto (UK) jackpot are 1 in 45,057,474: 6 numbers from 1–59.

Prizes and jackpot

There are six ways to win. Match two main numbers and you get a free Lucky Dip for a future draw; match three for a fixed £30; four, five and five-plus-bonus pay larger fixed or pari-mutuel amounts; six numbers takes the jackpot.

The jackpot rolls over when it is not won, but only up to a limit. Once it becomes a "Must Be Won" draw and no ticket matches all six, the jackpot is shared among the winners in the lower tiers instead.

History

The National Lottery held its first draw on 19 November 1994 with a 6/49 matrix. Wednesday draws arrived in 1997, and in October 2015 the pool was enlarged to 59 numbers along with the free Lucky Dip prize for matching two.
