About Melate
Melate is Mexico’s national jackpot lottery, run by Pronósticos para la Asistencia Pública, a federal government agency whose proceeds fund public assistance. Six numbers plus an additional number are drawn three times a week in Mexico City, and the jackpot rolls over until it is won, which has made Melate the best-known lottery draw in the country.
This page shows the six numbers and the additional number of every draw since 1984, together with the pot advertised for each draw, taken from the operator’s official published history. LuckyNumberz does not sell tickets and has no connection with Pronósticos or the Lotería Nacional.
How to play
Choose six numbers from 1 to 56, or let the terminal pick them at random. A seventh ball, the número adicional, is drawn from the same machine after the six main numbers; you do not choose it, and it can never be the same as one of the six main numbers because it comes from the balls left in the drum.
For an extra charge the same six numbers can be entered into Revancha and Revanchita, two follow-on draws with their own rolling pots that use the numbers on your Melate ticket. Draws are held on Sunday, Wednesday and Friday at 21:00 Mexico City time; tickets are sold by authorised Pronósticos agents and through the operator’s official online channels.
Odds
The odds of winning the Melate jackpot are 1 in 32,468,436: 6 numbers from 1–56.
Prizes and jackpot
Matching all six main numbers wins the jackpot. The additional number creates in-between categories: five main numbers plus the additional number is the second category, and lower combinations with and without it pay progressively smaller prizes. The upper categories are pari-mutuel, so their value depends on sales and the number of winners.
The jackpot rolls over when it is not won and starts again from a guaranteed minimum after a win. The pot figure shown for each draw on this page is the amount announced for Melate alone; the operator also publishes a combined figure that adds the Revancha and Revanchita pots, which is a different, larger number.
History
The first Melate draw took place on 19 August 1984 with six numbers from 39. The pool has grown five times since — to 44, 47, 50 and 51, and finally to the current 56 in December 2007 — each time lengthening the odds and letting the jackpot climb higher. For most of its life Melate was drawn on Sunday and Wednesday only; the Friday draw was added in November 2021. The archive on this page covers every draw since 1984, checked against the rules that applied on each date.
Frequently asked questions
When is Melate drawn?
Sunday, Wednesday and Friday at 21:00 Mexico City time. The operator publishes the results the same evening.
What are the odds of winning the Melate jackpot?
Six numbers from 56: 1 in 32,468,436. The additional number is not needed for the jackpot, so it does not change these odds.
Can the additional number repeat a main number?
No. It is the seventh ball from the same drum, drawn after the six main numbers, so it is always different from them.
What are Revancha and Revanchita?
Optional extra draws played with the same six numbers as your Melate ticket, each with its own pot. This page shows Melate only.
Why did old draws use numbers above 39?
They did not: draws before April 1993 used 39 numbers. The pool grew in stages to 44, 47, 50, 51 and 56, and each draw here is shown under the rules of its own period.
