About Saturday Lotto

Saturday Lotto is Australia’s oldest and most widely played lottery draw, held every Saturday evening. It is sold under several names — Saturday Lotto in New South Wales, the ACT and Western Australia, TattsLotto in Victoria, Tasmania and the Northern Territory, Gold Lotto in Queensland and X Lotto in South Australia — but the draw and the winning numbers are the same across the country. Sales run through the Lott, the retail brand of the Lottery Corporation, in most states, and through Lotterywest in Western Australia.

This page shows the six winning numbers and the two supplementary numbers for every draw, with the division prizes as published by the operator. LuckyNumberz does not sell tickets and has no connection with the Lott or Lotterywest.

How to play

Six numbers are drawn from 1 to 45, followed by two supplementary numbers from the same barrel. A standard entry is a set of games, each with six numbers, which you can mark yourself or take as a QuickPick. System entries let you choose more than six numbers in one game so that every six-number combination among them is covered, at a higher price. The price per game is set by each state lottery and varies slightly across the country.

Tickets are sold in newsagents and lottery outlets and through the websites and apps of the Lott and Lotterywest. You can enter a single Saturday or the same numbers for several weeks in a row. Sales close on Saturday evening ahead of the draw at 8:00 pm Sydney time.

Odds

The odds of winning the Saturday Lotto jackpot are 1 in 8,145,060: 6 numbers from 1–45.

Prizes and jackpot

There are six prize divisions. Division 1 is all six winning numbers; Division 2 is five numbers plus one supplementary; Division 3 is five numbers; Division 4 is four numbers; Division 5 is three numbers plus one supplementary; Division 6 is one or two winning numbers together with both supplementaries.

Prizes are pooled: each division receives a share of the prize fund, and the winners in that division split it, so the amounts change from week to week with sales and the number of winners. Several times a year the operator runs a Superdraw with a much larger advertised Division 1 pool than a normal Saturday.

History

The game began in Victoria in June 1972 as Tattslotto, the first lotto-style draw in Australia, and the other states joined over the following decades until the Saturday draw became a national one. The original number pool was smaller; the present format of six numbers from 45 with two supplementary numbers has been in place for many years and is shared with Weekday Windfall.

Frequently asked questions

When is Saturday Lotto drawn?

Every Saturday at 8:00 pm Sydney time (AEST, or AEDT during daylight saving). Results are published by the operator shortly afterwards.

What are the odds of winning Division 1?

For a single game of six numbers from 45, 1 in 8,145,060. A standard entry contains several games, so the odds per ticket are proportionally shorter.

What are the supplementary numbers?

Two extra balls drawn from the same barrel after the six winning numbers. They are not needed for Division 1; they count only in Divisions 2, 5 and 6.

Why does the game have different names in different states?

Each state lottery historically ran its own brand — TattsLotto, Gold Lotto, X Lotto — and the names stayed when the draw became national. The numbers and prizes are identical everywhere.

What is a Superdraw?

A Saturday draw with a much larger advertised Division 1 prize pool, held a few times a year. The rules and the number of divisions are the same as in a normal draw.
