About Texas Two Step

Texas Two Step is a lottery game sold only in Texas and run by the Texas Lottery, the state agency based in Austin. It sits between the daily Cash Five and the bigger Lotto Texas: the jackpot is smaller than Lotto Texas but rolls over from draw to draw, and the two-part play of four numbers plus a separate Bonus Ball gives it more ways to win than most four-number games.

This page shows the four winning numbers and the Bonus Ball for every draw, the advertised jackpot for the next draw and the full archive, all taken from the Texas Lottery’s official results. LuckyNumberz does not sell tickets and has no connection with the Texas Lottery.

How to play

A play costs $1.50. You choose four numbers from 1 to 35 and one Bonus Ball, also from 1 to 35. The Bonus Ball comes from a separate machine, so it can be the same as one of your four main numbers. You can mark the numbers yourself or ask the retailer for a Quick Pick, and one ticket can cover several consecutive draws.

Draws are held on Monday and Thursday nights at 10:12 pm Central Time. Sales close shortly before the draw; tickets are sold by licensed Texas Lottery retailers, and the numbers are published on the operator’s site within minutes.

Odds

The odds of winning the Texas Two Step jackpot are 1 in 1,832,600: 4 numbers from 1–35 plus one from 1–35.

Prizes and jackpot

There are eight prize levels. Matching the Bonus Ball on its own wins the smallest prize; matching all four numbers plus the Bonus Ball wins the jackpot. Because the Bonus Ball is drawn separately, every combination of main-number matches has a version with and without it, which is where the eight levels come from.

The jackpot starts at a guaranteed minimum and rolls over whenever nobody matches four numbers plus the Bonus Ball. It is paid as a single cash payment rather than an annuity, so the advertised figure is the amount a winner actually receives before tax. The lower prizes are fixed amounts.

History

The first Texas Two Step draw took place in May 2001. For its first three years the game was drawn on Tuesdays and Fridays; the schedule moved to Monday and Thursday in mid-2004 and has stayed there since. The 4/35 plus 1/35 matrix has not changed since launch, which makes the game one of the few in this archive whose entire history can be read against a single set of rules.

Frequently asked questions

When is Texas Two Step drawn?

Monday and Thursday at 10:12 pm Central Time. Results appear on this page shortly after the Texas Lottery publishes them.

What are the odds of winning the Texas Two Step jackpot?

Four numbers from 35 plus one Bonus Ball from 35: 1 in 1,832,600.

Can the Bonus Ball repeat one of the main numbers?

Yes. It is drawn from its own machine with its own set of 35 balls, so it can match one of the four main numbers already drawn.

Is the jackpot paid over time?

No. Texas Two Step jackpots are paid in one lump sum, unlike the annuity option offered on Lotto Texas.

Does LuckyNumberz sell Texas Two Step tickets?

No. We only show the official results and check your saved numbers against them. Tickets are sold by Texas Lottery retailers inside Texas.
