About Loto
Loto is the national lottery of France, run by FDJ (La Française des Jeux), the country’s historic lottery operator. It is drawn three times a week, on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday evenings, and has been part of French life since 1976.
This page shows the five numbers and the Numéro Chance for every draw, the prize breakdown by rank and the announced jackpot for the next draw, all taken from the results FDJ publishes. LuckyNumberz does not sell tickets and has no connection with FDJ.
How to play
Fill a grid with five numbers from 1 to 49 and one Numéro Chance from 1 to 10. You can mark the numbers yourself or take a Flash grid generated at random, and one ticket can hold several grids. Sales close shortly before the 20:35 draw.
Grids are sold in tobacconists and bars carrying the FDJ sign and on the operator’s website and app. Each ticket also carries printed codes that enter a separate raffle drawn with the main numbers, and an optional second draw of the five main numbers can be added to the same grid for a small extra charge.
Odds
The odds of winning the Loto jackpot are 1 in 19,068,840: 5 numbers from 1–49 plus one from 1–10.
Prizes and jackpot
There are nine prize ranks. The first is five numbers plus the Numéro Chance; then five numbers without it, four with and without, three with and without, and two with and without. The ninth rank returns a fixed amount for matching the Numéro Chance alone, so the Chance number gives every grid a way to win something.
The jackpot starts at €2 million and rises by at least €1 million every time it is not won. It carries over from draw to draw until a grid matches all five numbers and the Numéro Chance. Lower ranks are a mix of fixed amounts and shares of the prize fund.
History
Loto held its first draw on 19 May 1976 with six numbers from 49 and a complementary ball. The game was overhauled in October 2008, when the current five-from-49 matrix with a separate Numéro Chance from 1 to 10 was introduced, and a third weekly draw was added later, giving the Monday, Wednesday and Saturday schedule.
Frequently asked questions
When is Loto drawn?
Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 20:35 Paris time. FDJ publishes the numbers within minutes and the full prize table follows once winners are counted.
What are the odds of winning the Loto jackpot?
Five numbers from 49 plus one Numéro Chance from 10: 1 in 19,068,840.
What does the Numéro Chance do?
It separates the ranks: five numbers with the Chance number is the jackpot, five without is the second rank, and so on down. Matching only the Numéro Chance still returns a small fixed prize.
Does the jackpot have a cap?
It rolls over until it is won, growing by at least €1 million per draw. When a grid finally matches everything the jackpot returns to its €2 million starting level.
