About Lotto 6/45 (Korea)

Lotto 6/45 is South Korea’s national lottery and by far the most popular game in the country. It is operated by Dong Hang Lottery, the consortium that has run the Korean lottery under government mandate since December 2018, and drawn once a week on Saturday evening. Six numbers are drawn from 1 to 45, followed by a bonus number from the same machine.

The numbers shown here come from the operator’s official results at dhlottery.co.kr and are checked after each draw. LuckyNumberz does not sell tickets and is not connected with Dong Hang Lottery or the Korean government; we show the results and the prize breakdown so you can check your own numbers.

How to play

Choose six numbers from 1 to 45 for each game. A single game costs 1,000 won, and one ticket can hold up to five games, so the most you can put on one slip is 5,000 won. You can mark your own numbers, let the terminal choose them all automatically, or mix the two by fixing some numbers and having the rest filled at random.

Tickets are sold at licensed retailers throughout South Korea and, within a set limit, through the operator’s own online service. Sales close on Saturday evening ahead of the 8:45 pm draw, which is broadcast live on television. Players must be 19 or older.

Odds

The odds of winning the Lotto 6/45 (Korea) jackpot are 1 in 8,145,060: 6 numbers from 1–45.

Prizes and jackpot

There are five prize ranks. Rank 5 (three numbers) pays a fixed 5,000 won and rank 4 (four numbers) a fixed 50,000 won. The remaining prize money is shared between the top three ranks: rank 3 for five numbers, rank 2 for five numbers plus the bonus number, and rank 1 for all six. Those amounts vary with sales and with the number of winners in each rank, which is why the first prize differs from week to week.

When nobody wins rank 1 the money carries over to the following Saturday. Because Korean prizes are pari-mutuel, a draw with many winners in the top rank pays each of them less, and the per-winner amounts shown on this page are the official figures published by the operator.

History

Lotto 6/45 held its first draw on 7 December 2002 and has used the same 6/45 matrix ever since. The largest single first-prize payout came early in its life, in April 2003, when one ticket took around 40.7 billion won after a series of rollovers. The operating consortium has changed over the years; Dong Hang Lottery has held the mandate since December 2018.

Frequently asked questions

When is Korea Lotto 6/45 drawn?

Every Saturday at 8:45 pm Korea Standard Time. Results appear on this page shortly after the operator publishes them.

What are the odds of winning the first prize?

Six numbers from 45: 1 in 8,145,060 for a single game.

What is the bonus number for?

It is drawn seventh from the same machine and only matters for rank 2: five main numbers plus the bonus number. It does not count for any other rank.

Why does the first prize change every week?

Ranks 1 to 3 share a fixed portion of the prize fund, so the amount depends on that week’s sales and on how many tickets share each rank. Only ranks 4 and 5 are fixed amounts.

Can I buy a ticket from outside Korea?

No. Tickets are sold only in South Korea by licensed retailers and the operator’s own online service. LuckyNumberz shows the results but does not sell tickets.
