About Mega-Sena
Mega-Sena is Brazil’s biggest lottery, run by the federal bank Caixa Econômica Federal. With six numbers from 60 and three draws a week, it produces the country’s largest prizes — above all the Mega da Virada, the special New Year’s Eve draw whose jackpot cannot roll over.
This page shows the six numbers of every draw, the prize breakdown by tier and the estimated prize for the next draw.
How to play
Choose six numbers from 1 to 60. A simple bet costs R$5; you can mark up to 20 numbers on one ticket for a higher price, which covers every six-number combination among them.
Bets are accepted at lottery shops across Brazil and through Caixa’s official online channels. Sales close shortly before the 20:00 draw. You can also join a bolão, a shared ticket sold by the shop, to split a larger bet with other players.
Odds
The odds of winning the Mega-Sena jackpot are 1 in 50,063,860: 6 numbers from 1–60.
Prizes and jackpot
There are three prize tiers: Quadra (four numbers), Quina (five) and Sena (all six). Each tier receives a fixed share of the prize fund, so amounts vary from draw to draw.
When nobody hits the Sena the prize rolls over. Part of every prize fund is set aside all year for the Mega da Virada on 31 December, which is why that draw is usually the largest of the year.
History
Mega-Sena was launched in March 1996 and quickly became Brazil’s most popular game. The Mega da Virada special draw began in 2009. The draw schedule has changed over the years; the current days are listed above.
