About Oz Lotto

Oz Lotto is Australia’s Tuesday-night jackpot game and was the first lottery draw run nationally across every state and territory. Seven numbers are drawn from 1 to 47 along with three supplementary numbers, and the Division 1 prize rolls over whenever nobody wins it, which is why Oz Lotto has produced some of the largest prizes in the country. Tickets are sold through the Lott in most states and through Lotterywest in Western Australia.

This page shows the seven winning numbers and the three supplementaries for every draw, the division prizes and the advertised Division 1 amount for the next Tuesday. LuckyNumberz does not sell tickets and has no connection with the Lott or Lotterywest.

How to play

Choose seven numbers from 1 to 47 for each game, or take a QuickPick and let the terminal choose them. A standard entry contains several games; System entries let you mark more than seven numbers in one game so that every seven-number combination among them is played, for a correspondingly higher price. Prices per game are set by each state lottery.

Tickets are sold in lottery outlets and newsagents and through the operators’ websites and apps, and you can enter the same numbers for several consecutive weeks. Sales close on Tuesday evening before the draw at 8:00 pm Sydney time.

Odds

The odds of winning the Oz Lotto jackpot are 1 in 62,891,499: 7 numbers from 1–47.

Prizes and jackpot

There are seven divisions. Division 1 needs all seven winning numbers; Division 2 is six numbers plus one supplementary; Division 3 is six numbers; Division 4 is five numbers plus one supplementary; Division 5 is five numbers; Division 6 is four numbers; Division 7 is three numbers plus one supplementary.

Division 1 is a pooled prize shared among all winners in that division. If there is no winner it jackpots to the following Tuesday, and the operator advertises an estimated amount for the next draw, which is the figure shown on this page. The lower divisions are paid from their share of the prize fund and vary with sales and the number of winners.

History

Oz Lotto launched in February 1994 as a six-number game from 45. It became a seven-number game in October 2005, and in May 2022 the pool was widened to 47 numbers with a third supplementary number added, lengthening the Division 1 odds and allowing jackpots to grow larger before they are won.

Frequently asked questions

When is Oz Lotto drawn?

Every Tuesday at 8:00 pm Sydney time. Results are published by the operator shortly after the draw.

What are the odds of winning Division 1?

For a single game of seven numbers from 47, 1 in 62,891,499. A standard entry has several games, which shortens the odds per ticket accordingly.

What are the supplementary numbers?

Three extra balls drawn from the same barrel after the seven winning numbers. They are not needed for Division 1 and count only in Divisions 2, 4 and 7.

What happens when nobody wins Division 1?

The Division 1 pool rolls over to the next Tuesday and is added to that draw’s pool, so the advertised amount grows week by week until a ticket matches all seven numbers.
