About Vikinglotto
Vikinglotto is a multinational lottery played across ten countries: Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Iceland, which founded it, and Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovenia and Belgium, which joined later. Six numbers are drawn from 1 to 48 plus one Viking number from a separate pool of 1 to 8, and ticket sales from all ten countries feed a shared top prize.
This page shows the results as published by Norsk Tipping, the Norwegian operator, which also hosts the draw. Prizes are paid in each country’s own currency by the national lottery that sold the ticket; the amounts shown here are the Norwegian figures. LuckyNumberz does not sell tickets and is not connected with Norsk Tipping or any other participating lottery.
How to play
Choose six numbers from 1 to 48 and one Viking number from 1 to 8, or take a random selection. The price of a row is set by each national lottery in its own currency. The draw is held on Wednesday evening at 8:00 pm Oslo time, and sales close earlier that evening at a deadline published by each operator.
Tickets are sold only by the national lotteries of the participating countries, in shops and through their own websites and apps. Several operators attach a local add-on game to the same ticket; those add-ons are national and are not part of the shared draw shown here.
Odds
The odds of winning the Vikinglotto jackpot are 1 in 98,172,096: 6 numbers from 1–48 plus one from 1–8.
Prizes and jackpot
The top prize requires all six main numbers and the Viking number and is pooled across all participating countries, which is why it can grow far beyond what any one Nordic or Baltic lottery could fund on its own. Below the top prize each country runs its own prize tiers from the same drawn numbers, so the number of tiers and the amounts differ from one country to another.
When nobody matches six numbers plus the Viking number the top prize rolls over to the following Wednesday. Six numbers without the Viking number is a large second tier in every participating country.
History
Vikinglotto began in March 1993 as the first lottery in Europe to pool sales across national borders, with the five Nordic lotteries. Estonia joined in 2000, Latvia and Lithuania in 2011, Slovenia in November 2017 and Belgium in November 2020, bringing the alliance to its present ten members. The draw takes place in Hamar, Norway, where Norsk Tipping is based.
Frequently asked questions
When is Vikinglotto drawn?
Every Wednesday at 8:00 pm Oslo time. Results are published by the participating lotteries shortly afterwards and appear on this page as soon as the official source releases them.
What are the odds of winning the Vikinglotto top prize?
Six numbers from 48 plus one Viking number from 8: 1 in 98,172,096 for a single row.
Is the Viking number drawn from the same drum?
No. The six main numbers come from a pool of 48 and the Viking number from a separate pool of 1 to 8, so the same value can appear as both a main number and the Viking number.
Why do prizes differ between countries?
Only the top prize is shared. Each national lottery sets its own lower tiers, converts them into its own currency and rounds them, so a five-number prize in Norway is not the same amount as in Finland or Belgium.
